| The "W.A.T.S." is a Wrap Around Test Set that provides for automated testing of an avionics mission computer used in helicopter applications. Test control via a PC-based test suite commands the multiple mission computer CPU's to exercise processing, memory, and I/O functions. The wrap-around concept uses the mission computer I/O subsystems to both stimulate and receive known I/O sequences. The W.A.T.S. provides video sources, Ethernet hub support, power sequencing, I/O signal conditioning, and video format conversion to interface to commercial CRT & LCD displays. |

The "Demonstrator" is a rack mounted VME computer system containing custom cabling and a unique split backplane that provides for the real-time demonstration of two helicopter mission computers. The split backplane allows for the installation of two separate computer systems in the same rack mount space, each with its' own cabling and power supplies. The rack mount unit is constructed to allow transportation to customer sites, conventions, and shows. It provides demonstration of I/O management and the rendering of graphics & video images on various display surfaces. The configuration is also used by software developers working in a lab environment, away from actual helicopter assets. |
